Department of Social Security
- Department of So|cial Se|cu|ri|ty, theDSS a British government department which used to be responsible for paying various types of ↑benefit (=money paid by the government to support people who need it, for example people who are poor, people who are too old or too sick to work, and people who cannot find jobs) . This department changed its name in 2001 and became the Department for Work and Pensions.
